The 16 Days runs from the 25th November, “White Ribbon Day” to International Human Rights Day, the 10th December. The purpose is to reinforce that eliminating all forms of violence against women is a human rights issue and that the act of perpetrating violence against women is a human rights violation.
Violence against Woman is by far the most common form of gender based violence and affects 1 in 4 women. ?This is highlight most starkly by the tragic fact,
a woman is killed every 2.5 days in the UK.? Between January and October 2014, 122 women in the UK were killed through suspected male violence.
Carwyn Jones AM said: “I am delighted to support the 16 days of activism and congratulate Welsh Women’s Aid for all the work they do to tackle domestic violence.”
