In January 2017, Bridgend AM Carwyn Jones officially opened new charity Confidence Through Learning in Bridgend. Located at 5 Bells Road, the aim of the charity is to build confidence by encouraging learning and promoting the advantages of learning. The charity welcomes learners from all backgrounds, from 11 years old to 80 years old, no matter the circumstances or personal barriers. The charity will be supported by partners, Tyfu Training Ltd and Synergy Achievements.
The charity believes that there are many factors that can contribute towards a person’s disengagement whether it be social, personal or their local economic environment. The charity can help by providing the right support activity, providing the right level of support and tailoring learning packages to the appropriate level of need. This includes a full diagnostic service, coaching and guidance to help learners discover who they are and what individual plans they need to make their lives a success.
I was very pleased to officially open Confidence Through Learning. The charity will help people to have the confidence to believe they can succeed, and to make more positive life choices. CTL will pass on the enthusiasm for learning and support and guide people in their individual learning journeys. Indeed, by equipping people with the right tools to aim higher in life, people will then feel part of the community and not socially excluded from society
Toni Hughes, acting CEO, said, “Confidence through learning charity aims to support and help people to build their confidence through learning, allowing them to realise their natural abilities, intelligences and strengths, which will aid them to realise their ambitions, gain greater independence, allowing them to choose and plan their future individual journey. I believe there are no barriers to the support we will offer our learners and service users. We will adapt an approach and programme to support them individually as we are mindful how hard it is to make changes and take the initial steps to move forward.”
