Carwyn speaks to roller derby players at Bridgend YMCA

I recently enjoyed a visit to the Bridgend YMCA for breakfast in their new ‘Sip and Surf’ cyber cafe followed by a tour of the facilities. I was impressed with the wide range of activities offered which encompass a range of ages and interests. With a focus on engaging people to enjoy being physically active, the YMCA offers a range of classes including martial arts, ‘Rink Ratz’ roller skating and is a base for the Cardiff and Bridgend Roller Collective – practicing the fast-growing sport of roller derby.

I also observed circuit training for students of the Military Preparation College and spoke to both organisers and those who take part in the activities offered at the YMCA. The huge value of a community facility such as this should never be underestimated. The YMCA offers affordable opportunities for learning, getting healthy and enjoying the social side of getting involved with classes and catching up with friends in the purpose built cyber cafe. There seems to be something on offer for everyone. Why not find out how you could get involved at the YMCA?
