Keeping Warm this Winter

Blwyddyn Newydd Dda! Happy New Year and hope everyone had an enjoyable Christmas. After a cold December, I wanted to remind everyone about the support available to help with energy bills and the importance of keeping warm this winter.

The Welsh Government’s Nest scheme is available to help households keep warm and save money on our energy bills. Nest is open to all householders in Wales and provides free advice on saving energy, money management, fuel tariffs, and benefit entitlement. Nest can also provide free home improvement to those who own or privately rent their home and if you or someone you live with receives a means tested benefit and live in a hard to heat home.

I also thought it would be helpful to remind people of the £140 discount on electricity bills provided through the Warm Home Discount scheme. This is offered by some of the larger energy suppliers to people getting the guarantee credit element of pension credit and to some other people on low income, depending on the energy supplier.

If you think you may be eligible for the Warm Home Discount or free energy saving home improvements, or just need some energy saving advice, contact Nest on Freephone 0808 808 2244, or visit www.nestwales.org.uk.
