Over the past few months I have been delighted to have the opportunity to visit a number of local schools in my constituency.
Back in July I opened the new school building in Pen Y Fai following the £4.3 million investment from the Welsh Government and Bridgend County Borough Council after years of planning. It was great to see how much the children were benefiting from the new facilities in their new classrooms.
More recently I visited Heronsbridge School in Bridgend, following their glowing Estyn report. The hard work carried out by the staff, praised in the report was clear to see. At the beginning of October, I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Coychurch Primary School, which has also received a very good inspection.
Last week, I was honoured to open the new look sixth form study space, Oriel and Lle Dysgu in Bryntirion Comprehensive School. I enjoyed meeting many of the pupils including head boy Scott Ennis and head girl Rebecca White.
It is very important to me that as the Assembly Member for Bridgend I engage with people all over the county and school visits are a great way to meet staff and students.
