I am delighted that the new Marina in Porthcawl has now been officially opened. The transformation of the Marina is part of the regeneration of Porthcawl town. The project to improve the Marina has been funded by the Labour led Bridgend County Borough Council and the Coastal Tourism Project, which was led by Visit Wales, the Welsh Government as well as the European Regional Development Fund. As all the berths have now been allocated, it shows the popularity and success of the project. The redeveloped Marina will also benefit local tourism.
The Marina was official opened by the Leader and Deputy Leader of the Council, Cllr Mel Nott OBE and Cllr David Sage respectively. I attended the opening along with Madeleine Moon MP, Derek Vaughan MEP, Jane Hutt AM as the Minister for Finance and her guest, Ireland’s Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform, Brendan Howlin TD.
