In July, Bridgend AM Carwyn Jones faced a range of questions from Porthcawl Shout Forum members when he was invited by the chair to one of their monthly meetings. Members had clearly thought about what they wanted to ask in advance and had come prepared with their questions. Mr Jones was happy to answer questions and to take supplementary questions from the assembled audience.
A lively debate ensued as people were not shy in putting their views forward. Mr Jones made a few introductory comments and then proceeded to take questions from the floor.
Some of the question topics included the regeneration of the town, views from independent traders about the town and business rates, traffic concerns, the general appearance of the town (litter, maintenance issues), the new Primary Health Care Centre proposed for Porthcawl, ownership of the Severn Bridges, the local development plan and Cardiff Airport and control of Air Passenger Duty (APD).
After the meeting, Mr Jones took the opportunity to speak to a number of members about the issues raised in the meeting.
