Bridgend AM Carwyn Jones was happy to support Macmillan Cymru’s coffee morning in the Senedd this month. Macmillan Cymru were in the Senedd to raise awareness of their flagship fundraising event ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’ on Friday 29th September 2017.
Over a cuppa and a piece of cake, Mr Jones had the opportunity to speak to Macmillan staff and volunteers and to hear more about Macmillan’s work supporting people affected by cancer in Wales.
Now in its 27th year, ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’ is Macmillan’s biggest annual fundraising event.
Mr Jones said “Macmillan is a hugely important organisation for so many people who are living with cancer. Lots of people have heard of the Macmillan nurses but they are only one part of the work that Macmillan does. Macmillan does a huge amount in making sure people have information about cancer and supporting people when they are told that they have cancer. Indeed, they help people from the moment they are diagnosed, with medical and practical help, as well as emotional and financial support. Macmillan does a great job to give an overall service to people. The Coffee Morning is a great fundraiser, it brings people together and helps raise awareness of Macmillan’s work.”
