Local AM praises BAVO Volunteers

Bridgend AM Carwyn Jones has praised all those who have registered to volunteer with BAVO. There has been a fantastic response from local people across Bridgend county and there are now currently 637 volunteers all engaged in a range of roles designed to help the most vulnerable in our communities.

Volunteers have been delivering shopping to those who are shielding. They have been picking up and delivering vital medicines and have provided some welcome relief and comfort through BAVO’s befriending service. Indeed, they have been a welcome voice during these hugely uncertain times. Some volunteers have also been deployed in local community kitchens and Foodbanks. BAVO has also highlighted to me that all volunteers have been offered free online training for their roles through the BCBC Social Care Workforce development portal.

Mr Jones said ” I would like to thank everyone who has registered to volunteer. It is great to see that there has been such a wonderful response from people who simply want to help. Our volunteers are truly our unsung heroes.”
