Bridgend AM thanks Local Postmen and Women as they gear up to deliver a first class Christmas

It was an early start for Bridgend AM Carwyn Jones today as he made his annual visit to the Bridgend Sorting Office to see at first-hand the operation of delivering Christmas post and to pass on early Season’s Greetings to its dedicated, hardworking staff.

Mr Jones was shown around the office by the Delivery Office Manager Matt Smith and was introduced to the postmen and women, who will be pulling out all the stops to sort and deliver mail in the forthcoming busy Christmas period.

The Festive Season is Royal Mail’s busiest period, as millions of people shop online for gifts as well as sending Christmas cards and parcels. Royal Mail also plays a key role in e-commerce for many businesses sending goods to customers throughout Christmas shopping season.

Mr Jones said “Our postal workers do such an important job all year round but especially at this time of year. The Delivery Office was a hive of activity and it was great to meet the team again and to say a big thank you for the fantastic job they do and the lengths they go to ensure that Christmas parcels and cards are delivered to loved ones on time.”
