Carwyn Jones AM has urged parents to ensure their children are fully up to date with their MMR vaccinations in light of a recent measles outbreak.
Since the outbreak was announced more than 1,000 cases of the condition have now been reported in and around the Swansea area.
Measles is a highly infectious illness that can be easily passed between persons if the sufficient vaccinations haven’t been received. Therefore, it is extremely important that all children are fully protected. Anyone who is unsure should contact their GP surgery.
Carwyn Jones said, “I would reiterate the encouragement I’ve given in the past, that people should have their children immunised with both doses of MMR. My children were – I’ve got no problem saying that. It is important that people are protected to the maximum level of immunisation.’’
