In January 2016, Bridgend AM Carwyn Jones visited the Zimmer Biomet plant based at the Waterton Industrial Estate in Bridgend. The Bridgend plant produces some of the most advanced orthopaedic devices available. Their highly skilled workforce produce knee and hip replacements and complex medical instruments designed to restore mobility to patients who are suffering from a variety of musculoskeletal conditions and traumatic injuries. From the plant in Bridgend, they supply products to patients throughout the world.
Carwyn Jones said “It was a very interesting visit to Zimmer Biomet. I had a tour of the plant to see for myself the work that they do and had the opportunity to speak to the UK Plant Director Dr Marc Kneissler and his team about their plans for the future. In their global operations, the Bridgend plant is their third biggest plant so the Bridgend plant is important in their global footprint. It was also interesting to hear more about the company’s world class research and development department based at Bridgend which is working with the UK’s top Universities
