Bridgend Rotary Club- President’s Dinner

It was a great honour for Bridgend AM Carwyn Jones to be the keynote speaker at this year’s Bridgend Rotary President’s Dinner. Mr Jones joined an illustrious panel including current President Rotarian Hopkin Joseph, President Elect for Rotary GB and Ireland Donna Wallbank and the popular Broadcaster Phil Steele.

Other guests included the Mayor of Bridgend County Borough Council and Consort, Bridgend Town Mayor and Consort and the Mayor of Pencoed and Consort.

The dinner at the Heronston Hotel was supported by many organisations including the Bridgend Lions and the Bridgend Soroptimists.

The MC for the evening was Rotarian Alan Reeks who did a fine job presiding over the evening’s activities. There was also a warm welcome from the President of the Rotary, Hopkin Joseph.

Mr Jones said “ What a lovely event and my thanks to Hopkin for the kind invitation. It was great to see so many people at the dinner supporting the event. I was honoured to be the keynote speaker and to be able to share some stories about my time as First Minister of Wales.”

At the end of the evening, there was a raffle where the proceeds raised were going towards the club sponsored bike ride to raise funds via REMIT to provide clean water in Tanzania.
