I hope that many people are already aware that the ABMU Health Board has produced a document called “Changing for the Better” outlining the challenges of delivering high quality, safe and accessible health services across South Wales. The document puts forward proposals for how services could be better delivered and one of the options being considered is to designate the Princess of Wales Hospital as a Regional Centre which would cater for a wider population, with more specialised services. Rumours that the Princess of Wales will close are not true. However, it is not yet clear what changes to services might be made if the Princess of Wales is not a regional centre.
The Health Board has embarked on an engagement process to gather views of people across South Wales and this is an opportunity for you to say what is important to you. What do you want from your health services? I encourage you to make your views known by attending drop in sessions or responding in writing or online to the engagement process. I have also been pleased to receive correspondence and will continue to represent your views to the Health Board.
I will be keeping people informed of developments and events through my website and facebook page:
