Constituents issues inform questioning of FM by MS Carwyn

Today, all 60 members of the Welsh Parliament/Senedd came together virtually to join the Plenary session via zoom for the first time during this pandemic. With much business to progress, Plenary proceedings started at 11am and after a short break for lunch, continued until late afternoon.

During First Minister’s Questions, MS for Bridgend Carwyn Jones asked two questions on behalf of his constituents. He stated that a number of people had contacted his office asking why they cannot play tennis. Also, he asked the First Minister about lifeguard services and safety on our beaches.

He said “I have, within 5 miles of my constituency, no fewer than eight beaches, which are very popular. Five of them would normally have Royal National Lifeboat Institution lifeguard cover. I asked the First Minister what is the Welsh Government doing to make sure that people are aware of the fact that there’s no lifeguard cover, when there normally would be at this time of year? And what information is being given to the public to make sure that they are safe, given the fact that that cover is not there?

Tennis/lifeguard services and safety on beaches

A number of people have contacted my office asking why they cannot play tennis. I have raised this directly with the First Minister during today's virtual Plenary session. Also, I asked the First Minister about lifeguard services and safety on our beaches.I have, within 5 miles of my constituency, no fewer than eight beaches, which are very popular. Five of them would normally have Royal National Lifeboat Institution lifeguard cover.
