Happy 72nd Birthday to the NHS

MS for Bridgend Carwyn Jones has today wished the NHS a happy 72nd birthday by saying thank you to the thousands of NHS staff across his constituency.

72 years ago from the devastation of the Second World War, Welsh Labour’s Nye Bevan founded our national health service. The health service was created with the simple idea that good healthcare should be available to all regardless of wealth.

The NHS has grown over the years, treating many more illnesses and people, providing life saving care and keeping us safe in our time of need- from the cradle to the grave.

Mr Jones said “ I would like to thank all our NHS staff for their dedication and huge efforts. Not least over the last few months, we have seen truly heroic efforts from so many NHS staff and those in social care services providing exceptional care in dealing with this coronavirus pandemic.

“So on this, the NHS’ 72nd birthday, I would like to take this opportunity to simply say thank you. Thank you for the work that you have done and thank you for the work that you continue to do, day in day out. We truly appreciate everything that you do.”
