On the 10th September 2017, Its My Shout held their Gala Awards evening at the splendid Donald Gordon Theatre at the Wales Millennium Centre and Bridgend AM Carwyn Jones had the opportunity to join the budding film makers of the future on the red carpet at the Wales Millennium Centre.
Mr Jones said “It was great to be back again in the fantastic setting of the Donald Gordon Theatre and to celebrate and showcase the talent of our budding film makers and aspiring actors and actresses, costume designers and screenwriters of the future. I was delighted and proud to share in their celebrations.”
Mr Jones also had the honour of delivering the opening address at the prestigious event.
The creative industries sector in Wales is thriving. Last year was a great year for TV and film production in Wales. Wales Screen, part of the Welsh Government’s creative industries team, handled 386 production enquiries and recorded more than £41m spent in Wales by productions supported by the Welsh Government.
Mr Jones added “Over the years, ‘It’s My Shout’ has been providing huge opportunities for those who want to get into the TV and film industry. Every year, the trainees set the bar very high and this year’s talent on display- both in front of and behind the cameras, did not disappoint.
“It’s My Shout film training scheme offers young people an incredible opportunity to get ‘hands on’ experience at the sharp end on a film set. It is invaluable experience that will give them not only the skills but the confidence to follow their dreams. It also provides a huge sense of worth, achievement and pride with their work being enjoyed by huge audiences. I know that I will certainly look out for many of these names in future productions.”
