Some residents in Pyle and Kenfig Hill were suprised to see their local Senedd Member delivering hot meals around the area. Member of the Senedd for Bridgend Carwyn Jones joined volunteers at the Talbot Community Centre to help prepare and deliver hot meals and to meet some of the volunteers and Kitchen staff who were selflessly giving their time to help during these unprecedented times.
The hot meals service is just one service being provided from the Talbot Community Centre. Co-ordinating this service and others including a prescription pick up and delivery service, a hotline for residents and a shopping service for those essential items, are Pyle and Cornelly Community Councils who have joined forces to help those most in need in their communities of Pyle, Kenfig Hill, North and South Cornelly, Kenfig and Mawdlam.
Residents who are over 70 years of age and those residents who are in recepit of a letter from the CMO who have been asked to shield can take advantage of these services.
Mr Jones said ” Thanks to all at the Talbot Community Centre, especially the formidable two Julies who did the cooking. I am looing forward to seeing you all soon to deliver lunches to our locked-down elderly.”
The hot meals delivery service is available on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays and if you need help and are eligible, please call 01656 749754. For help with shopping for essential items or the prescription delivery service, please call 01656 470040.
