Heronsbridge Recycles, a scheme based in Heronsbridge School has been shortlisted for the People’s Millions competition and is in with the chance to win £50,000 to develop a scheme which will not only provide a great service to cyclists in the community but also improve the skills and opportunities for work, for pupils at Heronsbridge school.
Heronsbridge Recycles is a not-for-profit bicycle recycling scheme which aims to create opportunities for young people with special educational needs to gain work experience and accreditations whilst fixing old, second hand bicycles which once repaired and safety checked will be sold back to the local community at a low cost targeting low income families or those who feel they would not want to purchase a specialized bicycle like many shops offer.
This is a great opportunity for the pupils which will allow them to develop their skills and experience while at the same time providing a service to the local community and builds upon their excellent Estyn Inspection Report.
I urge everyone on the 26th of November to go to http://www.peoplesmillions.org.uk/ and vote for the exciting Heronsbrige Recycles scheme to win this much needed funding which could transform the lives of many young people across Bridgend.
