Bridgend now has two Sensory Rooms located in the town centre thanks to Mulligan Community. These tranquil and calm areas were officially opened by Bridgend AM Carwyn Jones. Other guests at the official launch included the Mayor of Bridgend County Borough Council and his Consort, the Town Mayor and his Consort and the former Rugby player JJ Williams.
In the Sensory Rooms, there are lots of gadgets to play with and explore. There are also lasers and fibre optic lighting, relaxing bean bags, gadget boards and some fish lamps.
Mulligan is a non profit organisation with their profits going to homeless projects. As well as the Sensory Rooms, the MC Hub is home to the Community Shop, a Family Contact Room, a Community Training Room, a Counselling Advice Room and a Clothes Swap Shop.
Mr Jones said “It is good to see the Sensory Rooms open and that interest is gradually building. We know how these Sensory Rooms can be an invaluable resource and improve the lives of those who use them. These rooms will provide a relaxing, calm and private space for those who use them.”
