I am always happy to support the Rotary Club of Porthcawl’s annual ‘Know your Blood Pressure Day’ and this year’s event at Trinity Church was no exception. Each year the event serves to highlight the importance of regulating and tracking your blood pressure. I would like to thank Rotary Club members for their efforts in ensuring the event’s success and also the healthcare professionals who gave their time to take the blood pressure of the many people who took the opportunity to call into the event.
It was good to receive an update recently on the proposed Porthcawl Maritime Centre from three of the Porthcawl Harbourside CIC team, namely Mike Clarke, Director, Stuart Bentley, Architectural & Design Consultant and Barrie Metcalf, Marine Operations Manager. Full planning permission has been granted for the development. The project has attracted EU funding, lottery funding and Welsh Government funding together with private and third sector funding. It is hoped that work on site will begin in the autumn of this year and that the Centre will take between 18 months to two years to build. It was also good to have a wider discussion about other issues concerning the town.
