Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

There have been a number of queries to my office regarding the availability of PPE. New guidance was issued in the UK, which simplifies when health and social care staff should use PPE.

On a local level, I am in regular contact with Cwm Taf Morgannwg Health Board seeking reassurance about current PPE supplies.

So far more than 5 million items of PPE, including eyewear, gloves, aprons and facemasks have been delivered to frontline health and care staff from pandemic stocks in recent weeks – over and above the normal supplies available to the NHS.

Below is a link to the latest Welsh Government gudiance on PPE. This summarises what the Welsh Government is doing to ensure people have the PPE they need to stay safe.

Coronavirus and personal protective equipment (PPE)

The First Minister Mark Drakeford AM has also issued a call to action for Welsh businesses to create a new Welsh supply of personal protective equipment (PPE) to support NHS and social care staff. Across my constituency, I know there are many local businesses who are going to extraordinary lengths in order to help in our national effort and I would like to thank each and every one of them for their fantastic response to date. Those who are willing and able to help, there is a dedicated page to PPE on the Business Wales website- link below-
