Assembly Members and Support Staff were treated to a lovely exhibition in May by Cardiff Met / Bridgend College’s Graduate Photography Exhibition entitled ‘Final Focus’. The event showcased and celebrated the work of 11 graduating photography students. The event was sponsored by Bridgend AM Carywn Jones.
Mr Jones said “I was delighted to sponsor their Assembly event and it was great to see so much original work on display.
“Two pieces of work stood out for me. Firstly, the collection of photos called “No Signal”- the photos set within mobile phone handsets as frames. How often are we out with friends and at least one of them will be on their phones- looking at Facebook, Tweeting, on Instagram or on What’s app – missing out on social interactivity with the people around them.
“I also liked the photos showing Port Talbot. So often when we think about the town of Port Talbot, the steelworks site is the image that all too readily comes to mind. However, these photos remind people that there is more to the town than just the steelworks. The photos show Aberavon Beach, the lovely country park and the characters of the town. These photos encourage you to think differently about Port Talbot.”
