Porthcawl Museum

I was delighted to read in a recent newsletter produced by Porthcawl Museum and Historical Society that Bridgend County Borough Council has offered heads of terms for a 30 year lease of the Old Police Station to the Museum. Eight months ago, a deal was reached to secure the future of this grade two listed building which houses Porthcawl Museum and the town’s Arts Society. This latest development is great news and will mean that the Museum can look forward to the future with a renewed sense of confidence, create new displays and presentations and plan improvements to the building. The Museum is a popular asset in the town and has widespread support.

Some of the improvements include plans to re-wire the southern part of the building once the asbestos has been removed. Then, to re-furnish it as a function room, computer suite and research library.

The Museum is a fantastic asset and adding these elements will certainly increase footfall to the museum.

Also, it is good to see that the Museum and Art Society retain the full support of Porthcawl Town Council and that they are making funding available for the museum to keep improving.
