Following an invitation from the chair, I was pleased to be the guest speaker at Porthcawl Shout Forum’s July meeting. Many had come prepared with questions to ask me and I was happy to answer a number of questions on both national and local issues. Question topics included the town’s re-development, the Salt Lake site, business rates, traffic concerns, the general appearance of the town, the new Primary Health Care Centre, ownership of the Severn bridges, the local development plan, Cardiff Airport and APD (Air Passenger Duty). There were many issues raised and I undertook to follow up on a number of these.
Last month, I was delighted to sponsor an exhibition hosted by Porthcawl Art Society entitled ‘Art for Art’s Sake’. The exhibition staged at the Welsh Assembly’s Futures Gallery in the Pierhead Building in Cardiff Bay, ran from the 8th August -31st August 2017. There were a range of paintings including ‘Heading for the Shade’; ‘Poppies on Grey’; ‘End of Shift’; ‘African Sunset’; ‘Butterflies & Blackberries’; ‘Lochness Sunset’; ‘Wild Garden’; ‘Rest Bay’; ‘Thunder in the Valley’; ‘Jaguar’; ‘Off Capri’; ‘Beach Huts’ and many more. The paintings were fantastic. Well done to all the artists exhibiting.
