Local charity SPLICE is a lifeline for many Bridgend families and recently Bridgend AM Carwyn Jones was delighted to pay a visit to hear about the important work that they do in the community. He was accompanied on the visit by John Rose, Director of the Big Lottery Fund Wales, Cllr Huw David, the Leader of Bridgend Council and Cllr John McCarthy, Mayor of Bridgend County Borough.
SPLICE offers parenting programmes and child support. The charity works with families to overcome issues including depression, domestic violence and poverty working in three main areas, offering therapy, support to live a more healthy lifestyle and crèche facilities.
Mr Jones said “During my visit, I had the opportunity to look around the centre, to speak to staff and to talk to the parents. The parents were very open, honest and were full of praise for the centre and staff. It was very interesting to hear about the positive impact that SPLICE’s Emotional Health programme for families and children was having on their lives. The centre is a lifeline for many families and one parent even described the centre as her ‘salvation’.
“The staff and volunteers at SPLICE do a tremendous job and thanks to the charity many families across my Bridgend constituency have had the opportunity to access the help and support they need.”
