Visit to the National Assembly for Wales by pupils from Cynffig Comprehensive School

Pupils from Cynffig Comprehensive School in Bridgend joined the Bridgend AM Carwyn Jones, other Assembly Members and academics from Cardiff University to gain an insight into politics and the law making process in Wales, during a visit to the Senedd in Cardiff Bay yesterday.

The visit was organised as part of a three-day “Winter School” residential programme for 14 and 15 years olds from schools across south Wales, to inspire those less likely to continue into higher education to consider going to university.

Mr Jones was delighted to welcome pupils from the school to the Senedd. He spoke to the pupils about his role as an Assembly Member and about devolution. He then invited questions from the group. They were a little shy at first but then once the first question had been asked, there was no stopping them.

Some of the questions included AM’s pay, local education provision, job satisfaction and politics as a career choice.
