Throughout this special event, there were readings, performances and presentations from poets and writers including the National Poet of Wales, Ifor ap Glyn.
The First Minister Mark Drakeford AM who was supporting the event, recited a poem by Wilfred Owen called “Futility’.
Other Assembly Members who took part included Adam Price AM, Kirsty Williams AM, who read a poem by Dylan Thomas entitled “ A Refusal to Mourn the Death by Fire of a Child in London’ and the Culture Minister Lord Dafydd Elis Thomas AM who recited a poem by Waldo Williams.
After careful consideration, I chose to read in Welsh, ‘Rhyfel’, by Hedd Wyn.
